Quote: “The doctor of the future will give no medicines, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the causes and prevention of disease”- Thomas Edison
Before partnering with Five Star & USANA, I had graduated from St. Mary’s University with a BA in Exercise and Sports Science along with Sociology and was working as a certified personal trainer at Spectrum Athletic Club. I was introduced to USANA in April, 2012, and shortly after I was offered a job at Incarnate Word High School, where I am currently employed as the Assistant Athletic Director and Assistant Volley Coach.
I have been an athlete my whole life, specifically specializing in volleyball. Club volleyball was a major part of my teenage years, and once I finished my college career, I realized I wanted to continue to share my passion for the game. I was training and giving private lessons through Bexar Country Juniors and was asked by the club director, April Fricke to learn about the USANA products that the club would be offering to the athletes. Come to find out the woman I found myself on the phone with happened to be one of my former club coaches, Gina Hunter. Once Gina began explaining the products, my interest was immediately sparked because I knew the importance of supplementation. With the quality that USANA offers, I knew I was about to making some serious improvements in my overall health and well-being. When we found a time to meet, I honestly had no idea that I would be making a major life decision that evening, but I am sure glad I did! Gina began with educating me on the pharmaceutical grade products and I knew for certain I wanted to be using them. The awesome information didn’t stop there because she then informed me that there was a business opportunity in with this company as well. Now, coming from someone who had ZERO business experience, I was a little hesitant, until I realized that I didn’t need the experience because I would have a whole team and an overabundance of knowledge at my fingertips. The thought of partnering with some a stellar company was quite exciting, but the even better part was that I actually could have my own at-home business!
One of the main reasons I chose to partner with USANA would be the founder Dr. Myron Wentz and hearing his mission statement. His main purpose is to help provide “a world from pain and suffering” and he wants everyone to “love life and live to the fullest in happiness and health.” There are many doctors out there who in my opinion really know understand the importance of treating problems at the root cause, like Dr. Wentz. People in our society are dying from degenerative disease, which for many people are preventable. Instead of only prescribing drugs to mask problems, there needs to be education on health from the cellular level, which is something USANA and the people who are involved provide. Unlike many other supplements, USANA’s products are all 100% potency guarantee, which allows anyone who takes them to know for certain that they are getting everything that is stated on the label in each product. I personally have been taking USANA products for over a year and can say that I “feel” the difference. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that I will not be wasting my days in bed or at a doctor’s office due to seasonal allergies or respiratory infections like I once was settable in the past.
I think one of the best business tips I have learned through our USANA events is to truly understand the “why”, the driving passion for each and every person. Everyone has a “why” statement in their life, and there might be several for some. Being able to be a successful business professional is one thing, but being able to help provide a change or benefit someone’s well-being is what is most important to me. Without understanding other people’s driving forces it makes it difficult to build relationships with other people, which limit the ability to help motivate and bring that person to their full potential. Remember, you never know when you may have the chance to help someone, even if you don’t realize it!
Joining the USANA family has taught me the importance of surrounding yourself with positive, goal-oriented and supportive people. It’s very easy to get knocked down by negativity, even for those whom you consider important to you. The only way attain success is to remember to keep your priorities straight and never lose sight of the true treason you do what you do. I believe that God has blessed us with fascinating, truly amazing bodies and a way to honor that gift is to take pride and take care of them the best we can. One of my favorite sayings I have seen is “be the best version of you!” This is something I find to be very inspiration and hope to share with others!
